What the fence calculator is doing.
The math stays intentionally visible so you can replace assumptions instead of trusting a hidden “magic” price.
Fence calculator questions
Before you use the result.
How many fence posts do I need?
Divide the fence length by your chosen post spacing, round up to whole sections, and add one end post. Corners, gates, changes in direction, and structural requirements can add posts.
Does the cost estimate include labor?
It includes whatever you put into “installed price per linear foot.” Use a combined labor-and-material rate if that is how your contractor prices the job, then enter gate and removal allowances separately.
Why does the calculator add 10% to pickets?
It is a simple planning allowance for cuts, waste, and damaged pieces. Your product dimensions and layout may require a different allowance.
Is this a final fence quote?
No. A local contractor must confirm measurements, layout, materials, gates, slope, soil, access, permits, utilities, and current pricing before issuing a final quote.
